A Superb Picture Frame Containing Portrait Of A Former Mayor Of Exeter

A large portrait on canvas set in a superb
gilded wooden frame with inner slip and
carved geometric inner and outer borders.
The main frame carved with C scroll stems
of flowers and shell motif corners.
The portrait is of Charles William Holcombe Hill
Mayor of Exeter 1954-55.
Accompanied by a photograph when presented
to the Queen
Signed and dated 1945 by the artist Henry Wykes
( Fl 1917 -34 ) He had 8 works in the RA
The contemporary frame would lend itself to a wonderful
large rectangular mirror ??
